Chloe's Place

Kian was 5 months old when we discovered we were expecting another baby.

We had scans at Guys hospital again and was told from what they could see the babies heart looked fine, which was a huge relieve but I don’t think we would be convinced till the baby was born.

At our 20 week scan we were told all looked fine we asked the sex of the baby and was told it looks like a girl!  We were so happy to be having a girl but it stirred up lots of mixed emotions, our daughter was due 20th October 2004.

Late in the evening on the 23rd of October I started to have contractions, my due date had passed so we took Kian off to my parents and left it until my contractions were 5 mins apart and set off for the hospital. They started coming every 2 minutes then just stopped.....Nothing . My blood pressure shot up and I had had protein in my urine so they decided to keep me in and if nothing had happened they would induce me on the Monday (25th).

This scared the life out of us as we were induced with Molly and that was a very difficult labour. I was given some prostin around 8am and nothing happened, Mark came to se me then My mum and Kian arrived, I really missed the little monkey though he was having the time of his life staying at nanny and granddads. When they left I was given some more prostin and was told to stay mobile so I took a walk to the supermarket down the road to get something to read and some nibbles.

Mark came back still nothing to report a few tightenings but that was it , he had to leave at 10pm as I was on the antenatal ward, we were all given something to help us relax as we were told it can get quite noisy and we need all the energy we had for having our baby’s.

At about 3:15am I was having a few niggles nothing much but I told the nursing staff anyway, they told me to leave it 30 mins and they would put me on the monitor and see how things were going.  I didn’t ring mark as it was the early hours of the morning and they were only niggles. 30 mins later they put me on the monitor and left me to it all of a sudden the niggles got painful and after about 3 mins my waters broke I buzzed the nursing staff to tell them but with the next contraction I had the overwhelming need to push, the nursing staff starting screaming for a delivery pack the baby was coming.

At 4am a healthy Chloe Jade Lloyd was born weighing 8lb and she looks so like her big sister Molly. I immediately asked for someone to ring Mark I need him. I was still on the antenatal ward it all happened so quickly I didn’t have time to go to the labour ward. They soon  moved me to the labour ward where I rang mark telling him he could come now I had been moved. I felt so guilty mark missed it and still do although it all happened so quickly.

Chloe was born so quickly she was very ‘snuffly’ so they had to clean out her nose and warm her up as the antenatal ward isn’t as warm as the labour ward.
